Long Alley Facades/Maxwell Parking Lot Improvement
June 2010 - A new project began this summer along Long Alley in Uptown Greenwood. 10 buildings will receive facade improvements along the Long Alley exterior including 302 Main (Thayers), 308 Main (H H Turner Jewelers), 312 Main (Future R3 Catering), 314 Main (Rugs of Distinction), 318 Main (Rudd's), 322 Main (Vacant), 324 Main (Western Carolina Products), 326 Main (K-Beauty Supply), 328 Main (Polo's/Mabry Sanders Insurance).
Work will also include upgrades to the City Parking Lot on Maxwell Avenue at the intersection of Monument Street. The parking lot will be redesigned to include landscaping to soften the appearance of the large surface parking lot. This work is scheduled to begin around August 2010.

New Greenwood County Library
June 2010 - Construction of the new Greenwood County Library is on schedule with a target completion date of July/August 2010. Greenwood County Council accepted the bid of Yeargin Potter Shackelford Construction in the amount of $7,545,000 to construct the new Greenwood County Library. The new Library will be 44,000 square feet - more than twice the size of the current facility. Monument Street from the intersection of Washington Avenue to the intersection of Marion Avenue is now permanently closed. This section of road has been deeded to the County and will become a part of the new library property. Construction plans have been developed by Craig, Gaulden, Davis and Davis & Floyd Engineers. Construction is anticipated to last a minimum of one year. The new Greenwood County Library will be built on the former Winn Dixie location on South Main Street in Uptown Greenwood.
