Greenwood, SC - A Blues Empress from Atlanta, Harlem street musicians, and a quartet with a cardboard box are just a few of the unique highlights of the 8th Annual South Carolina Festival of Discovery Greenwood Blues Cruise taking place July 10-12, 2008 in beautiful Uptown Greenwood, South Carolina.
“The Greenwood Blues Cruise celebrates great Blues in a true Southern cultural setting,” said Gary Erwin, aka Shrimp City Slim, Artistic Director of the Greenwood Blues Cruise. “What better way to enjoy the Blues with the backdrop aroma of barbecue,” said Erwin.
The Cruise kicks off Thursday, July 10 at 5:30 PM with a Live After 5 concert at the Countybank Plaza featuring Atlanta’s “Empress of the Blues” Sandra Hall. Hall has been on stage with the likes of Blues greats John Lee Hooker, Denise LaSalle, Clarence Cater, Tyrone Davis and Albert King.

Visitors can learn about traditions, folklore, arts and crafts, music and dance and culture. Carolina barbecue and traditional Black Kettle Hash have made the festival a tasty stop for local and national barbecue enthusiasts.
