Greenwood, SC – Can you eat 17 hot dogs 12 minutes? That’s all it will take to become the reigning South Carolina Festival of Discovery / American Red Cross Hot Dog Eating Contest all-time champion.

The 2007 Hot Dog Eating Contest will take place on July 14 at noon on the EMBARQ Main Stage on Oak Street in Uptown Greenwood.
The Greenwood American Red Cross is sponsoring the 2007 Hot Dog Contest.

Last year, Greenwood’s Cody Dorn took the title by eating 14 hot dogs. This year’s winner will walk away with a $100 prize and the right to claim the name of 2007 Festival of Discovery Hot Dog Eating Champion!
Contestants are allowed to use almost any tactic as long as they eat both the wiener and bun.
Contestants can register ahead of time by calling Uptown Greenwood at (864) 942-8448 or the Greenwood Red Cross at (864) 229-3102 for the entry form. (download here)
There is no entry fee, however contestants much be at least 18 years old to compete.
The South Carolina Festival of Discovery is coordinated and sponsored by the Uptown Greenwood Development Corporation (UGDC).
The Festival celebrates the folk and traditional arts, crafts, music, and foods that have provided the context and character of the American South and Greenwood County.
